Early Potatoes

We decided to grow some early potatoes in potatoe sacks in our polytunnel and we are now starting to harvest these earlies from late May onwards. While the grop has not been massive we are delighted at having a source of fresh, home grown potatoes.

Early Potatoes

We have grown some of our early potatoes in potato sacks in the polytunnel, we now realise that we need a larger polytunnel as our 20 x 14 ' tunnel is not large enough to grown everything we would like to. Living in the far north of Scotland means that we are about 6 weeks or more later than most of England and about 4 weeks behind areas such as Edinburgh due to the lower temperatures and wilder weather. By growing vegetables and fruit under cover we make up for some of this temperature difference between Caithness and other areas of Britain.
